Landmarks across Bedfordshire to light up marking Air Ambulance Week
Several well-known buildings across Bedfordshire will be illuminated in either red or yellow to show support for East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Luton DART and Bedford Corn Exchange are among several landmarks taking part in the initiative on September 9 to help raise awareness of the lifesaving work carried out by the charity during Air Ambulance Week.
The support comes as East Anglian Air Ambulance continues to raise money for its Cambridge Air Base Appeal. The charity needs to urgently relocate ahead of the closure of Cambridge Airport in 2030. Campaign fundraising has so far raised £3.6 million, but still needs to raise a further £4.4 million to make the new base a reality.
Matthew Jones, chief executive at East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: "We're incredibly grateful to Luton DART and Bedford Corn Exchange for supporting Air Ambulance Week and helping us raise awareness of the work our crews do every day. Seeing well-known buildings illuminated across the region is a powerful reminder of the difference local communities make in helping us continue to provide lifesaving care, whenever and wherever it's needed. As we continue to fundraise for our new airbase, every bit of support we receive means so much. This is about more than lighting up a building or making a donation – it's our community coming together to protect the people we love and secure the future of the lifesaving care we deliver across the counties we serve.”

Javeria Hussain, vice chair of Luton Rising, said: "Lighting up Luton DART during Air Ambulance Week is our way of showing support for this vital lifesaving organisation and recognising the extraordinary work of its crews. We hope it inspires more people to discover the charity and the lifesaving care it delivers across the region.”
Residents are welcome to visit the venues on the evening of Wednesday, September 9 and encouraged to take photos and share their support for the charity and the Cambridge Air Base Appeal on social media by tagging East Anglian Air Ambulance.
