Mum-of-two claims she was left 'bedridden' after Valentine’s Day meal at Luton pub
A mum from Luton has called on Wetherspoons to be more careful with the food it serves after saying a meal in a pub left her needing an ambulance.
But while Weatherspoons has said it will investigate, it added that they had received no other complaints – and the pub has a food hygiene rating of five.
The 26-year-old woman, who wants to be anonymous, said she became seriously unwell after eating a ‘simple chicken jalfrezi’ curry at the White House in Luton on Saturday, February 14.
She said: “I ate it, and literally an hour later, I couldn’t stop vomiting. By 3am I had to call an ambulance. I was completely bedridden. I couldn’t move.”

A Wetherspoons spokesperson said: “We are sorry to hear that a customer has been ill and wish her a speedy recovery.”
They added: “We have not had any reports of any other customers becoming ill at the same time, and the White House has a food hygiene rating of five under the government’s 'Scores on the Doors' food hygiene scheme. We will investigate the incident and have contacted the customer so that she can provide the details we need to do so.”
But the woman, who has two young children, says she has complained to Wetherspoons, but wants more to be done to prevent this from happening again.
She said: “My main goal is just to get that chicken curry removed so no one else gets ill. Just take more time and more caution with the food.”
The woman said the chicken seemed slightly chewy but otherwise appeared cooked and tasted normal. And she did not raise concerns at the pub as her symptoms began after she arrived home.
