The 38-year-old hasn’t featured for Hatters since Jones’ opening game in charge, when he went off injured after just eight minutes.

He then gave an interview to the Peterborough Telegraph on transfer deadline day stating he was ‘gutted’ that a return to former club Posh never materialised.

Since then, Tyler has been relegated to the bench, where he stayed for the fifth game in succession for the 4-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday as Elliot Justham took the gloves once more.

Speaking about the situation, Jones said: “We’ve had no approach at all, Mark’s still part and parcel of our team.

“Elliot had kept three clean sheets in five games, so it would be harsh to have changed him in any kind of way.

“But nothing’s changed, Mark’s a crucial part of our squad, every team operates with at least two first team goalkeepers, that’s no different for us.”

When asked if he had spoken to Tyler regarding the story about his future, Jones added: “That’s something we’ll speak about in house, I speak to my players day in day out, no problem.

“I’ve had a conversation with Mark about his future and about everything anyway, so there’s no problem between me and Mark. We’ll handle those things in house, it’s not a problem.”
