All the odds as Hatters host York City

Luton smashed Hartlepool 4-1 at Victoria Road on Saturday to move within two points from the play-off places and were cut to 7/4 (from 11/4) with BetVictor to seal a second promotion inside three years.

The win moves the Hatters up to 10th and they appear primed for an excellent campaign after recovering from a disappointing start, picking up just two points from a possible 12 in the month of August.

They have been a revelation thereafter however, winning five of their last six league games, and after being eased out to 33/1 after last month’s 3-2 defeat at Notts County, are now as short as 11/1 with BetVictor to be crowned champions.

Portsmouth were last week’s acca-busters after being held to a goalless draw with Yeovil at Fratton Park and a fixture in plenty of weekend multiples at 2/5.

They remain the 4/1 joint-favourites with Oxford to finish top of the pile in League Two but lack any sort of value and are overlooked in favour of the Hatters at 11s and Plymouth at 5s.

There was bad news for Hatters fans however, with Luton crashing out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Priestfield on Tuesday. Luton went into the interval with a 1-0 advantage but were unable to build on that after the break, eventually losing the tie 2-1, and will have to concentrate on maintaining their excellent league form when hosting York City at Kenilworth Road today.

Luton have won five of their last six league games and are odds-on with BetVictor to secure another three points at the expense of the Minstermen; Luton the 20/23 favourites, the visitors 10/3 and the draw 27/10.

Jack Marriott came off the bench to net a brace at Victoria Park and cut to 66/1 (from 100s) with BetVictor to be the league’s leading marksman this season, and can add to his tally at the weekend.

Marriott is the club’s leading scorer with six goals in all competitions thus far and appeals at 5/1 to break the deadlock against their Yorkshire rivals, 6/4 to net anytime and 2/1 to do so in a Hatters success.
