Luton defender Teden Mengi was called up for the England U21s this week after a wonderful season at Kenilworth Road since signing in August.
Although he has now had to withdraw from the squad due to an injury assessment, the Hatters have had 11 players feature for the Three Lions in this age group before, and to find out just who has represented their country as an U21, see the gallery below.
5. Mitchell Thomas
Another who was part of the England youth teams during the early stages of his career at Luton, going on to win his first England U21 call-up in the Euro Championships group stage 3-0 win over Turkey at Bristol City, playing with Luton team-mate Paul Elliott, as he came on for Nicky Pickering. 6. Tim Breacker
The right back won two caps for England U21s, making his debut in a Euro Championships semi-final first leg against Italy, the Three Lions beaten 2-0 in April 1986, a side containing Luton team-mate Mike Newell and ex-Hatter Garry Parker, striker Gianluca Vialli on target for the hosts. Breacker then kept his place for the second leg which was held at Swindon Town, ending 1-1 as the Italians went through 3-1 on aggregate. Photo: Dan Smith
7. Mike Newell
Won four caps for the England U21s, making his debut as the Three Lions won 1-0 in a Euro Championships quarter-final clash at Denmark in March 1986, the visiting side including Tony Adams. Came on for Paul Rideout in the second leg 1-1 draw, as he also played the two-legged semi-final matches against Italy that included Town team-mate Tim Breacker, the Three Lions defeated 3-1 on aggregate. 8. David Oldfield
Played once for the England U21s during his first spell at Luton, as he was named on the bench for the Euro U21 Championships group stage match with Sweden at Highfield Road in October 1988. Came on for Jason Dozzell at half time, the game finishing 1-1, with David White netting the Three Lions' goal, Martin Dahlin featuring for the visitors. Photo: Hatters Heritage
