Luton defender Teden Mengi was called up for the England U21s this week after a wonderful season at Kenilworth Road since signing in August.
Although he has now had to withdraw from the squad due to an injury assessment, the Hatters have had 11 players feature for the Three Lions in this age group before, and to find out just who has represented their country as an U21, see the gallery below.
9. Julian James
Earned his call-up for the England U21s during their Toulon U21 tournament in May 1990. Played in a stunning 7-3 victory over France on his debut, Mark Robins scoring five goals and Graham Stuart bagging a double, former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit netting for the French. Kept his place for the 2-0 win over USSR that followed, in a side that had Lee Sharpe and Tim Sherwood also starting, which were to be the defender's only two outings for Three Lions. 10. Scott Oakes
Called up once by the England U21s as he represented his country in a Toulon U21 Group A match against Brazil in Draguignan, coming on for Mike Sheron with 64 minutes gone in a 0-0 draw on June 11, 1993. 11. Kelvin Davis
Goalkeeper made his debut in June 1995 as having played twice for the U18s he was in goal for the 1-0 Toulon U21 Group B clash win over Angola, Nicky Forster scoring for a team managed by Ray Harford that also included David Beckham and Phil Neville. Played against Croatia in a 1-0 defeat at Roker Park just under a year later and then a 3-1 loss to Portugal in the Toulon Tournament. Photo: Hatters Heritage
