Lacey pens new deal with Hatters

Having come through Luton’s youth ranks the 19-year-old has impressed whenever called upon and has also enjoyed successful loan spells with Cambridge City, Thurrock and Eastbourne Borough last season.

Manager Paul Buckle cut his loan spell at Eastbourne short having taken charge and was delighted by the deal.

He said: “Alex has got talent in abundance and it’s with great pleasure that we have been able to agree a contract to keep him with us for another two years.

“He has a real willingness and work ethic to improve his game and we’re all looking forward to seeing his development continue.

“He has all the attributes to be an excellent defender.”

Lacey made his Town debut in the goalless draw with Welling United in the FA Trophy in December 2010 and has turned out seven times so far for the Hatters.

He added: “I’m delighted. To be felt so wanted by everyone here, especially the manager, is fantastic.

“I’ve learned a lot in my time out on loan and I’m excited at the prospect of making the step up and impressing the manager who has shown a lot of faith in me.”
