Luton midfielder Andrew Shinnie has joined League One side Charlton Athletic on loan.

The 31-year-old has struggled for first team football this term, playing just twice in the Carabao Cup games against Reading and Manchester United.

Shinnie, who signed when Nathan Jones was first in charge back in June 2017 and then permanently a year later has featured 106 times for Town, scoring 10 goals, playing a big role in the club's back-to-back promotions from League Two.

After making 41 times appearances during Town's League One title win, the Scottish international now wants to experience that promotion feeling again, telling the Addicks official website: “I’m delighted to be here. I think the manager liked that I had experience of promotion in this division.

"It can be a tough division, we had a brilliant season just getting over the line (in 2018/19), so I’ve got that experience, so I want to bring it here to help the rest of the lads as well.”

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer added: "He’s a very good player. He’s a good footballer in the final third who has seen it and done it in this league and higher.”
