Martin feared for his future when Buckle left

Town wideman David Martin confirmed he felt his future was in doubt when John Still took the Kenilworth Road hotseat, writes Mike Simmonds.

Martin, who had been signed by previous manager Paul Buckle on a free transfer, said: “The thought did come into my head when he came in.

“You think a new manager, he’s going to want his own players and might not fancy the players that are there.

“So when I knew he wanted to give me a new deal, it gave me a big boost of confidence and definitely made me want to kick on even more.”
