The Hatters moved ahead through Mick Harford's first half header, but couldn't add to their tally, as Forest hit back in the second period with goals from Nigel Clough (2) and Neil Webb to lift the cup, winning 3-1. Below, the Luton News takes a special look at just who took to the field for Town that day.
5. Steve Foster
One of four players who started every single match of the tournament as Town conceded just four goals in their run to the final.
6. Dave Beaumont
Defender had arrived at Kenilworth Road from Dundee United in January, missing the first half of the competition. Played both legs of the semi-final and also the final too.
7. Danny Wilson
Another who started all nine matches, scoring twice, against Leeds United in round three and converting a penalty in the 3-0 semi-final first leg win at West Ham United. His cross was powered home by Harford at Wembley too.
8. Roy Wegerle
Joint top scorer in the competition or Luton as he netted four times, a double in the 3-1 win over Manchester City and in both semi-final legs against West Ham United.
