Luton keeper Simon Sluga was left on the bench once more as Croatia enjoyed a 2-1 win over Switzerland in their international friendly.

Ahead of two Nations League games against Sweden on Sunday and France on Wednesday, it had been hoped that the 27-year-old would win his third cap at the St. Gallen stadium.

However, manager Zlatko Dalić went with Dinamo Zagreb stopper Dominik Livaković again between the posts as Sluga had to watch on from the sidelines.

With 5,000 fans allowed to attend, in line with UEFA's coronavirus regulations, the Swiss began well, Mario Gavranovi denied by Livakovic early on before he headed home on 31 minutes from Granit Xhaka's cross.

Bruno Petkovic missed a gilt-edged chance for the visitors before Josip Brekalo equalised just before half time, with a first time shot following good work by Domagoj Bradaric.

Mario Pasalic then scored what turned out to the winner midway through the second half, sliding home Ante Budimir's cross.
