Still ‘chuffed’ to win lifetime award

The 64-year-old has been in management since 1978 and took charge of the Hatters in February 2013, leading them back into the Football League at his first attempt.

On receiving the trophy at Fulham’s Craven Cottage, Still said: “To get a lifetime achievement award in anything you do is a great honour.

“I was chuffed and absolutely delighted to get it and I am sure that I will look back in years to come and think that it is a special thing.

“It’s always nice to win something, but I think that is something a little bit extra.

“If you get promotion it is always special for Luton Town it is extra special. To be able to bring them back to the Football League is amazing.”

It wasn’t just Still who was honoured at the awards, as Mark Tyler was crowned Reusch Goalkeeper of the Year.

He kept 23 clean sheets to earn a new club record as he played every minute for the Hatters.

Tyler said: “It has been an amazing season and for me personally breaking the record for the cleansheet has made it an outstanding season for us.

“It was nice for me to break the record and to stay fit for the 46 games - I’ve got great people behind me.

“It’s been a hard, long five years. When I first came to Luton five years ago, the first year we had a great side, that’s why I signed to be at Luton, to be bouncing back straight away.

“But after that first year I knew the league was tough and we’ve had to play-off defeats. But we have bounced back and I think we have done it in style this year.

“To be champions, and to get as many points and goals and the clean sheet record as well, has been tremendous”

Defender Steve McNulty picked up the Our Game Football Player of the Year and added: “It was a great honour because there are some great players in the Conference and there are a lot of lads that have scored a lot of goals.

“We are playing in a tough league with a lot of good players so it was a great honour.

“At my age things like this don’t bother you but this is a really nice award.

“It’s of the whole league and I am very privileged an honoured to get it - it’s an award that sits on the mantle piece and takes pride of place.

Striker Andre Gray also picked up the Sportsbeat Young Player of the Year award at the event too.
