Luton RFC face Kettering in cup final

Luton Rugby take on Midlands One East side Kettering in the Wells Bombardier East Midlands Cup final tonight at Goldington Road, home of the Bedford Blues.

Paul Allen’s side have several players on the treatment table including Tabo Madiri, veteran Stuart Tomkinson, Sam Pacey and Mobasher Mahmood, but will be looking to end their season on a high.

Opponents Kettering finished fourth in Midlands One East, winning 20 games and losing six, with an impressive 419 points difference in their favour.

Luton, who have won the competition once before, met Kettering in the 1982 final, losing 13-10.

On the clash, which starts at 7.30pm, skills coach Chris Parr said: “They are a bit of an unknown entity, seeing as they are not in the same league as us so you can only really go with their results and what you’ve heard.

“They’ll be strong and competitive. They also want to win the cup so I think it’ll be a really enjoyable game.”
