Palmer heads to World Trials in Sheffield

Putteridge SC swimmer Lawrence Palmer will compete at the British Championship World Trials in Sheffield on June 26 for a place in the squad that provides the swimmers for the World Championships.

This is the first time Palmer, who lives in Bury Park and trains at the Inspire, Lea Manor and Lewsey pools, has qualified for the championships and is the only swimmer from a Bedfordshire club to do so.

Palmer, who also coaches at Putteridge too, will compete in the 50m breaststroke.

Coach Lesley Batson said: “This is the event that was the dream, to qualify for British Championships.

Lawrence will be competing against GB swimmers who we all saw at the Olympics last year, including Craig Benson and Michael Jamieson.

“Chris Bishop, Lawrence’s strength and conditioning coach has had a huge part to play in preparing Lawrence for the Championships.”
