Luton paramedic cycles around town to raise awareness of International Mental Health Day
Local Primary Care Network – Medics PCN - Urges Employers to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace Medics PCN is proud to support International Mental Health Day on 10th October 2024. This year’s theme, Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues within professional environments.
Dave Dixon, a huge Luton Town supporter and Paramedic in Primary Care, is leading the campaign with Medics PCN. Having lost a family member to suicide, Dave is deeply passionate about mental health. His personal experience has driven him to make mental health – both awareness and support – a core focus of his work in Primary Care.
“We want to make it easier for people to open up about their mental wellbeing, especially in the workplace, where stress can sometimes go unnoticed” says Dave. “I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have someone to talk to”.
To reflect on the 18 people that die by suicide every day, Dave will be setting off from Marsh Farm Medical Practice at 9.30am on 10th October and cycling 18km between Medic’s five GP practices handing over posters to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace. Medic’s PCN wants to emphasise that help is always available. Your GP website is a good starting point and you’ll be able to refer yourself to Mental Health Support groups or ask for further help from the Practice. Support is also available from many invaluable charities such as Mind and Calm.
