He comfortably won with a four-round total of 300 to triumph by five shots and will go forward to represent the county at the Champion of Champions weekend at Woodhall Spa in September.

Dunstable Downs were also successful in the County Team Championships, which is decided on the individual scores from the Saturday rounds only.

The team of Sutton, Mark Carter and Paul Kenna saw off the challenge of South Beds and will now represent Dunstable Downs at the English Team Championships at Dudsbury Golf Club in September.

Meanwhile, Sutton will be Bedfordshire’s only representative in the British Amateur Championships at Royal Cinque Ports GC and Princes GC, Kent, from June 17-23.
