Biggleswade United 0
AFC Dunstable 2

AFC Dunstable moved up five places to third in Molten Spartan SML Premier with a stout 2-0 win at Biggleswade United on Tuesday night.

AFC took the lead with their first strike of the game when BJ Christie, playing in an unusual position on the right, cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable shot on 12 minutes.

Biggleswade upped their game in the second half but, despite this, keeper Sam Leggett didn’t have a shot to save all night.

The game was finally put to bed in the dying seconds when a wicked cross from Lee Burgoyne was well finished by Christie at the far post.

AFC travel to Southern League side Northwood in the FA Cup second round qualifying on Saturday as manager Alex Butler said: “With only one defeat in 10 competitive games the three points gives us a good platform for our FA Cup game.

“We do have a number of injury problems, although it was great to have involved new signing and local lad Dale Turney, who has the potential to be a major player for AFC.”

AFC overcame Tring 2-1 on Saturday through Christie and Jason Blackett.
