Luton Town reached the Premier League last season after beating Coventry City on penalties in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
They became the 18th side to do so following the second tier being rebranded from the First Division at the start of the 2004-05 campaign.

9. 2014-15: QPR - 20th
After Bobby Zamora scored in stoppage time to send the R’s up against Derby, it was to prove a one-off season for QPR in the top flight as they ended up bottom of the pile, losing 13 from their final 19 matches. It meant Rangers finished on 30 points, going down with Burnley and Hull City. Photo: Dan Mullan

10. 2013-14: Crystal Palace - 11th
Seeing off Watford in the final thanks to Wilfried Zaha's goal, the Eagles eventually had a fine season, although it didn’t look possible following a start in which they lost nine of their opening 10 games. Ian Holloway resigned and Tony Pulis took over, as Palace went on to win five in a row in the closing stages, losing just one of their last eight games to finish in 11th, 12 points clear of third bottom Norwich City. 11. 2012-13: West Ham United - 10th
The Hammers had beaten Blackpool 2-1 at Wembley and then went on to flourish in the Premier League that season. Sam Allardyce’s team earned an 11th place finish, thanks to some superb form at Upton Park, with nine wins, six draws and just the four defeats, ending up 10 points away from trouble. The Swans were back in the top flight for the first time since 1983 after beating Reading 4-2 at Wembley. Under Brendan Rodgers, they also excelled at home, with eight wins, notable triumphs over Arsenal and Liverpool, managing to gain four victories away from Wales too. Photo: Bryn Lennon
