The hosts led through Alex Gilbey’s unbelievable attempt from range, before Town levelled in the second period through Jordan Clark, only to then concede a penalty that Aaron Collins netted. To find out how the Hatters rated on the day, see below.

9. Jamie Donley: 6
With Luton having fallen behind, he almost drew them level immediately when shimmying into a shooting position, only to see Wells frustratingly get in the way of his goalbound attempt. Hooked a good pass out for Palmer to go close and had another crack when being freed by his team-mate, Dennis tipping over. Less of an influence after the break, despite Town beginning to dominate territory, as had to demonstrate far more composure when picked out by Marshall's cross at the back post, shanking a volley wide when he had time to bring the ball down. Did have a part in the build-up to the equaliser, only to be substituted just before the visitors fell behind again. Photo: Jane Russell

10. Kasey Palmer: 6.5
Out on the left wing once more and while it worked so well at Wycombe, he didn’t quite have the same impact on this occasion, as Town's efforts in the final third were nowhere near as clinical. Still looked one of Luton’s most likely scorers in the first half, just unable to reach Mendel's cross, and then displaying some nifty footwork to drive at his man, sending in two shots that were repelled by Dennis. Also played in Donley for an attempt, while after the break, again saw plenty of the ball, but his crosses didn't find their intended target. Only had a few minutes in a preferred central role, off as Wilshere rung the changes in search of another equaliser. Photo: Jane Russell

11. Nahki Wells: 5
With Luton having so much of the ball in midfield and wide areas, the main frustration was that they couldn't ever create a meaningful opportunity for the striker, as he never had a meaningful chance to add to his tally. Unfortunate that he got in the way of Donley's shot when the midfielder's low drive appeared to be on its way into the back of the net, before struggling to get involved in proceedings, he was replaced by Marshall just before the hour mark. 12. Callum Marshall (SUB): 5.5
On for Wells with an hour gone, the striker was very fortunate not to give a penalty away moments before Town actually did concede a spotkick, his obvious handball when clearing a corner going unseen by the officials. Took up some good positions in the box during the latter stages, and should have levelled when he met Naismith’s cross only to head powerfully wide. Saw another attempt blocked away by a dogged home defence, and in stoppage time, swivelled to shoot tamely at Dennis as Luton couldn't find a second equaliser. Photo: David Horn
