The striker had been heavily criticised by the Town manager last month for his ‘shocking’ attitude in training and getting sent off in the Final Third Development League clash against Bournemouth.

But he was back in the squad at the Lamex and came off the bench after 83 minutes to curl in wonderful winner with almost his first touch.

Wall said: “I’ve been working a lot and since I’ve had some bad press recently, I’ve been working even harder.

“I always work 100 per cent but have been given even more time on the training pitch and luckily it paid off.

“Maybe the kick up the backside gives me that extra 10 per cent and that 10 per cent will get us more goals and make me a better player, so it’s all good in the end.”

Still didn’t feel like the goal was Wall’s way of redeeming himself though as he added: “Not at all because I can’t change what he did, he wasn’t professional enough and let himself down a little bit.

“It isn’t making the mistake it’s how you react to it and he’s reacted very positively which is all you can do.”
